You should have an original valid passport for at least 6 months after the intended date of departure from Ireland following visits. The passport must have sufficient space for a visa to be inserted, at least two empty pages are required. When registering, you must present a valid passport from your country of origin to prove your identity. Having a valid passport is also necessary, as immigration stamps are printed on a person’s passport. Getting a passport and identity documents is also important as formal identification is necessary for many things in Ireland including opening a bank account, applying for a driving licence, applying to study at college or university. Many landlords in Ireland also request proof of identification. ## ★ Useful Info **Country of origin:** The country of a person’s nationality. **Stamp (immigration):** An immigration stamps acts as proof of a person’s permission to be in Ireland for longer than 90 days.
